LEN:in päätöksen mukaa Pitkän radan EM-kisat 2008 uidaan Eindhovenissa 26. maaliskuuta alkaen, viimeinen kisapäivä on 6. huhtikuuta. Nyt Pekingin muuttuneet aikataulut ovat asettaneet ison haasteen näille karkeloille. Aikooko LEN vaihtaa kisoihin aamufinaalit?

Maybe too far…

SwimNews got huge readers response after Beijing olympic schedule change and some hotheads suggest boycott:

The reader suggests a boycott of all GE products (NBC’s parent company). Such protests have been played out on many fronts before – and often been most effective. To be effective it takes a whole community of people to say ‘we are so hacked off with the way we’ve been treated, we’re going to make a point of not supporting you and your business financially’. For those minded to bite GE back where it most hurts – in their wallet – here’s the link to their world and their list of products: http://www.ge.com/en/

My my, cool off gentlemen…

Boycotts are never very effective way of trying to make a difference. Money talks, swimmers walk… That´s just the way it is…

Sometimes you forget how vast is the swimming world… The Swazi Observer reports on Swaziland swimming games:

SWAZILAND National Swimming Association (SNSA) Secretary Chris Stapley says they were impressed with the attendance during the Ekhaya Properties Sprint Gala held at Sifundzani pool over the weekend.

Over 60 swimmers participated in the different categories. Stapley said the performance of the swimmers was not bad taking into consideration that they are fresh from the off-season.

“We thank the teams for making sure that swimmers attended this event in numbers and we hope for an improvement in the results in the coming tournaments,” he said.

He added that swimmers would be informed about the dates of the next event, The Fun Relay Gala will be hosted in Big Bend next month.

Quite fast.

Zwemkroniek raportoi uuden 14-sarjan Hollannin ennätyksen 100 perhosessa. 28.10. kuluvaa vuotta Mike Marissen (Z&PC Nunspeet) uiskenteli uudeksi ennätykseksi 58.82. Stanley Vleerlaagin (WZ&PC) ennätys 58.99 oli vuodelta 1999.

Mike onki parannellut huimalla tahdilla aikojaan viime aikoina:

    1.02.36 > 1.00.13 > 58.82.

Kova treeni kuulemma parannusten taustalla.

No expert on tennis, but knows how to win

Australian swimming coach & former head coach of Australia Don Talbot needs new challenges. Now it´s revealed that he is helping tennis ace Lleyton Hewitt “to get some balls!”

“I have a lot of time for Lleyton, but right now he has to get the bastard back in his game otherwise he’ll be out the door and into an early retirement,” Talbot said.

Don is very humble human being, knows his limits:

“I rang his manager a couple of weeks ago and just said, ‘I’m no expert on tennis, but I know how to win.”
